Dr. Bob’s Erster Po-Boy

Dr. Bob’s streetcar is likely to make you hungry, if not for more streetcar art, then at least for a New Orleans’ famous oyster po-boy. The law firm of Jones Walker sponsor’s Dr. Bob’s “Erster Po-Boy.” This delectable streetcar is the first of three streetcars located at Place St. Charles, 201 St. Charles Avenue. This one is inside, located in the atrium near the St. Charles Avenue entrance.

What does “erster” mean? It must be German(?). What is the english translation?… ‘oyster’ sandwich?

JJ, “erster” is a word of the Yat dialect:

Erster (n): A bivalve mollusk, also a New Orleans delicacy often eaten raw, fried, broiled, baked or po’boy-ed, but never, never berled in earl.

Please see the Southern Yat Hysterical Society’s Yatbonics page for more information.

There is also a fairly accurate Wiki.
