“A Streetcar Named Inspire” in City Business
New Orleans City Business Magazine ran a recent article detailing the YLC’s plans for A Streetcar Named Inspire. Partnering with the Downtown Development District and the city of New Orleans, plans are for a public art pavilion at the intersection of Rampart and Canal.
The $500,000 – to be raised through sponsorship and sale of the sculptures – will be donated to the Downtown Development District and city of New Orleans to build the public art space.
The pavilion will be “inspired by the design of art and entertainment corridors from across the globe,” YLC said. It will also be “visually striking” and “technologically advanced,” use image projection and light and feature seats and weather protection.
“The renaissance of Canal Street is the renaissance of New Orleans,” DDD President Kurt Weigle said. “Through partnerships with organizations like the YLC, we can truly find tangible ways to demonstrate the progress and the growth of our city.”
